Aril 5th Hands Off Boston Common
Our Communities' Work
We turn to creative expression to communicate powerful ideas in ways that are memorable, emotionally resonant, and difficult to ignore. Art, humor, and music allow activists to challenge authority, unify communities, and spread messages beyond traditional political spaces.
We are intentionally unaffiliated with any formal organization. This independence allows for openness, diversity, and flexibility—welcoming artists and activists to collaborate, contribute, and step away as needed, while keeping the work accessible and movement-focused.

BVOCAL First Amendment Flash Mob
December 15, 2025
One hundred BVOCAL singers surprised holiday shoppers at a local mall with a powerful flash mob celebrating the First Amendment. Ratified on December 15, 1791, it safeguards five essential freedoms: speech, press, assembly, petition, and religion.
These rights are the bedrock of our democracy—and they are under threat. It is up to We the People to defend them: to speak boldly, challenge those in power, and practice our beliefs freely
Creative Resisting frequently collaborates with the BVOCAL Chorus.

ICE Standouts
November 2025
The Sky Art panels used at No Kings II, were redesigned for deployment at ICE standouts, where they successfully attracted the attention of motorists driving by Hanscom Air Force Base.
We are also working on ways to use them on visibility bridge standouts.

De-ICE Hanscom Air Force Base standouts every Friday 1:30-3pm.

No Kings II
October 18, 2025
A collaborative project involving multiple artists, Sky Art was created for No Kings II with the hope that it would be featured in TV helicopter news coverage.
Meredyth Babcock’s crew, from Mass350, brought their Lord of the Flies puppets to life.
Mass50501 artisan Kat designed and created all the props for two street-theater skits spoofing ICE agents.
While Jonathan Sachs' 'Boat of Fools' set sail.

Labor Day Parade
September 2, 2025
Staying true to form, the CRT added humor and some sharp jabs at the fascist regime, all wrapped in a Season 27 South Park–inspired theme.
South Park character antics caught activist coverage from Don't Mourn Organize : The Resistance gets more creative; a Substack newsletter.
We had planned for the CRT South Park characters to march with the BVOCAL Chorus, but a surge of parade interlopers caused us to become separated.
BVOCAL powering the Movement with song, is a new protest chorus committed to uplifting our rallies, marches, picket lines, and civil disobedience with singing ‐ wherever people gather for justice.
Social justice movements are stronger ‐ more joyful, more resilient, and more powerful ‐ when they sing.

Lady Liberties flash mob joins the movement
August 26, 2025

The Lady Liberties flash mob, created by Judith Black of Stories Alive, was launched to remind ICE, government officials, and the public that this nation was built and sustained by people seeking safety, opportunity, and a hopeful future for their children.
During the flash mob, we sing the words of Emma Lazarus’s poem from the base of the Statue of Liberty in NY Harbor to the tune of America from West Side Story. All are invited to sing the chorus: I Lift My Lamp By the Golden Door, and then information is distributed on how to keep yourself and your immigrant neighbors as safe as possible during these dark times.
The group plans to appear at greater Boston immigration courts, detention centers, and other public spaces.

Good Trouble Lives On
July 17, 2025
On July 17th, the anniversary of John Lewis’ passing, we honored his legacy by making “Good Trouble” to protect our civil rights and free and fair elections once again. At the protest on Liberty Square on the Boston Common, Art Activist Kat from Mass50501 and her team took to the sidewalks.
Kat introduced Chalking as a new way to send messages to the public & elected officials.

No Kings I & Pride
June 14, 2025
No Kings I – Yaas to Queens inspired the launch of Creative Resisting. We introduced the Cheetos—affectionately dubbed the “Cheetos in Command”—who quickly became crowd favorites. In a playful nod to Trump’s military parade in D.C., we rolled out two DEI-powered, pride-camouflaged tanks, which earned us two photos in The Boston Globe.
The fun continued at the Pride Festival, where we handed out Trump-themed toilet paper, billion-dollar bills featuring QR codes linking to our partner organizations, and political fortune cookies. This project was created in collaboration with Swing Blue Alliance.
